how funny! i just gave up reading this book a few chapters in because i started reading it with my mind in ‘female’ mode, i.e. i thought the lead character was a woman, and when i realised it was a man i got really confused and frustrated and just gave up. maybe now i’ll re-visit it (from the correct perspective!)…

Oh I will definitely have to check this one out!

That sounds like a really interesting book! I like when the writer is so descriptive that you can really imagine yourself in the book. I’ve been looking for some new reads lately so I may add this to the list. I’m a bit inspired by your writing that was inspired by what you read (I hope that made sense..)
