Trevi Fountain, Rome
On saturday I was feeling extremely bored. I was restless and spent the day wandering around Oslo. Nothing exciting was happening and I have been most places in Oslo before. I had the next days off and I have saved up money for this summer. Around 4 pm I got this crazy idea that maybe I should just get off somewhere. My boyfriend had work on monday and tuesday that he really couldn’t abandon, so I asked the only person I know that is crazy enough to go with me; my sister.
And so it happened that I found some cheap tickets to Rome. Neither of us had ever been to Italy, and Rome is one of those places that I’ve always wanted to go. My sister got off work at 7, we ordered the tickets around 8 and by 10 pm she was already on the train over to my place (closer to the airport). The plane left the next morning at 6.30 am. It was totally the craziest and most liberating thing I have ever done. Just the thought of being bored in Oslo one day and wandering the streets of Rome the next day, gives me butterflies. It really reminds me that nothing is impossible and that all it takes is a little courage and trust.
We returned from our trip on Wednesday and headed directly to our parents for their 25th wedding anniversary. So give me a day, and I’ll give you wonderful photos, and a few new inspiring posts that I have up my sleeve. I also have some great news to share with you all!
Have you ever done something a little crazy and unexpected? How do you deal with boredom and restlessness? I’d love to hear about your adventures!

Wow! such an adventure… i really hope to be able to that when i am leaving in London

Oh, you’ll be living in London? Sounds awesome!
I think this is why Americans are so fascinated with Europe. Now that I’m living here, it never fails to amaze me that with a one or two hour flight I could be in a different country with a completely different culture.
As for doing unexpected and spontaneous things, I try to keep my mind open for all kinds of crazy activities.

I’ve never really appreciated Europe in this way before. I should definitely do it more often! Although, the possibility of going to NYC or Vegas with just a short plane ride sounds great too! I guess the grass is always greener…
Oh wow, that sounds like it was quite the exciting trip then! Even just the idea of it and booking your tickets must have been a rush. haha. I wish I could up and explore different countries like that, but unfortunately, it’s not really possible in North America. I definitely agree with what Liz said above me. At least for me, it’s 100% true.

I actually think booking the trip was more exciting than really going! ;) It was something so different from what I usually do!
One day I shall do that. Maybe when I move to Sweden because they also have awesome deals :D

When you move to sweden, you can easily jump on a plane or even train and visit me here in Oslo! Now how is that for an adventure? ;)
That is hands down the coolest thing ever!! Oh I wish I could fly to Rome for a few lovely days. Can’t wait to see your always beautiful photos.
The photos will be up soon! :)
Oh, wow, reading posts like these make me wish I was European. If I hope a train for 7 hours I can’t even get out of my country. Like Krissy said, it’s hard to do things like that in North America, but I definitely would do so if I lived somewhere in Europe! It sounds like you had a wonderful time, and I would love to see pictures. Rome is just so lovely.

Rome is amazing, every time I am there I am blown away. The architecture, the enormous buildings….The food, amazing! Did you love it?

I did! I loved the area around the Pantheon, so many narrow streets with beautiful churces! :)
[...] to my blog, I wanted to do a quick review of her site. One of the posts that stood out was a random trip she took to Rome. I think we should do more things like this…be a little spontaneous and hop a plane to random [...]
Oh wow that’s so awesome that you were able to do that. I actually just got back from a flying trip through Rome (and other parts of Europe). I absolutely loved it! There’s so much history and the architecture is amazingly beautiful. I can’t wait to go back and spend alot more time there.
