Norway bombing and shooting

Just a short post to let you know that I am safe in New Delhi. My friends and family are okay, but Norway is a small country, and everyone knows someone who is affected by the tragedy.

I don’t belive in blame, anger, revenge or hatred. I belive in freedom. Freedom of thought and freedom of speech. I belive in love. I belive in democracy and I belive in openness and respect. And I belive in the Norwegian people. We’re peacekeepers. I trust that we will stand together in this and that we will not use this as a reason to promote prejudice and hatred.

I am shaken, sad and shocked. It feels meaningless to go sightseeing in India right now, and we have decided to go home a few days early.

Please excuse me for not posting in the next couple of days. I really appreciate your comments, e-mails and tweets. Please keep those affected in your hearts, prayers and thoughts.

Love,
Marthe

I’m glad to hear your family is safe.

I wish I knew what more to say, or how to help. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this.

a few more words of wisdom, in line with the message of your post…

“The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate…Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: Only love can do that.”
    My thoughts are with you..

Hi Marthe, I’m so glad that you’re ok and your family is safe. I have spent the last few days, so often thought of you and do not dare look up on your blog, if you’re okay – for fear that it could not be. Stupid, right? What has happened is incredibly horrifying.
I wish you, your family and friends all the best. caro
