Thank you for the post. I particularly like the poem at the end, it was very inspiring and timely with something I have been thinking about lately myself: how planning applies to living in the moment.

I think the main difference is that we don’t distinguish from actual time and psychological time. Actual time will pass no matter what. This present moment arises out of the past due to the cause and effect of ourselves and others. Our actions are going to form our futures so we need to be mindful of how we live this present moment. However the problem is that when we try to live psychologically in a future that we are trying to either create or anticipate. This future may not happen because we cannot fully comprehend how our choices and the choices of others are going to mingle to create this new future. That’s why we have to just do our best and simply focus on the only two things we truly can control: what we think and what we do.
