Someday, Oneday and the day that will make all the difference

How many times haven’t I said those words.

Who knows? We’ll see. Maybe I’ll do it some day.

We were brainstorming ideas. Dazzling each other with dreams. Engaging in collective awesomeness.

And I fell in the Someday trap.

Well guess what?

Someday is not a day of the week.

And how many times haven’t I been thinking like this.

One day, hopefully, I’ll be happy.

Or when I was going through the darkest night of the soul –

I wonder if I’ll be able to take care of myself one day.

I was lying in a hospital bed, completely blinding myself with worry and defeat.

Well, if Someday isn’t a day of the week – neither is Oneday.

And how hard is it to say these words

I will make my dreams come true Today.

I will do whatever it takes to make myself happy Today.

When you wake up in the morning, when you daydream or when you’re lost in the darkness –

Because the truth is

Today is the only day that matters.

That was beautiful!

Thank you!

Thank you. I’ve been wondering how I can possibly be happy today. Two big life circumstances (health and my daughter’s distancing herself from me) have me heavy hearted.

Your words soften my spirit, and again, I thank you.

I’m sorry to hear about your health and your daughter, it sounds like you’re going through a hard time. Tell your daughter how you feel without blame or anger? At least that is what I would have appreciated when I distanced myself from my own parents years ago..

I’m sending you a lot of love. <3

LOVE this Marthe. Someday and Oneday, kicking them out of my vocabulary and never again letting them near a calendar again. Not days of the week! ;)

Thank you! Sounds like a great plan!

I couldn’t agree more. I’m going to practice omitting those words from now on.

I love this Marthe. I’m always saying someday. I’ll catch up with my friends someday. I’ll travel the world someday. I’ll quit my job someday. (Well, at least I can strike that last one off my list :) I think it’s time to start being more specific!

Marthe June 20, 2012 at 3:54 am

Yes it is! I think it’s time for you to set some travel dates! ;)

Great post :) I’m also trying to make a daily effort (more like moment by moment effort sometimes) to stay in the present. Today IS all we have.

Marthe June 20, 2012 at 3:56 am

Thank you! Moment by moment effort is all you need and it WILL take you where you want to go. Just one extra moment of presence each day can change your whole life!

There is no such thing as someday! One day doesn’t exist. All we have is right this minute.
