Guest post: You are a Shining Beacon
This is a guest post by Casey Addinsal aka Sir Flamingo
A little while ago your very own Lady Marthe wrote about 4 Simple Ways to Turn Toward the Light when you’re feeling disheartened. As I read it, I thought, ‘man she’s onto it, everything she’s saying is true – but she’s forgotten one’. Because there is another way of light that most of us don’t really pay much attention to.
In fact we probably forget it because it’s the light that we carry around with us all day, every day like it’s no big thing. To work, to play and back home again. Getting some groceries, reading a book or dabbling in snake charming. I don’t know what it is you like to do, but I can guarantee that you are carrying light with you always.
You are a shining beacon. But if you’re anything like me, you’re not normally plugged into some kind of generator most of your day, so I’m going to hazard a guess that this light comes from within you.
You’ve probably heard the whole ‘light from within’ bit a few times. I know I have repeatedly, though I’m rather drawn to the realm of spiritual. I’ve done umpteen visualisations, meditations and incantations unblock my light within with grand success! There are some times I feel so radiant that I imagine every inch of me is smothered in a thin film of luminescent body glitter.
And by sometimes, I mean all the time – every day is a party!
However I can appreciate that not everyone subscribes to the same practices. In fact there are vast masses of wonderful people who genuinely can’t fathom that new age type stuff; they’ve found their own awesome way of understanding the world. But it’s all good.
The very cool thing is that the light from within is a legit physical world thing irrespective of core beliefs. We (and every other living thing) literally emit visible light energy due to chemical reactions within our bodies; it’s just significantly less intense than what we know ‘regular’ light to be. The science people were only able to really see it with super powered cameras, in completely blacked out rooms… ogling naked humans (lest clothes obstruct the view).
Since these aren’t exactly your standard conditions for existence, aside from those able to read auras, we don’t have the pleasure of seeing it. And if we don’t see it, it’s easy enough to forget we have it. Out of sight, out of mind as they say.
But as with each of Marthe’s light practices, I’ve found that focusing on the light you emit is effective in dissolving darkness and very, very cool. Especially when you remember that every other living thing around you is sending off the same kind of energy.
I know you likely can’t see it but… just imagine the field of light energy around you now.
How does it feel?
What does it look like to you?
Maybe it has a sound, or a colour?
How does it move as you move?
Does it get brighter in time?
Then can you imagine your friends and family in their own cocoons of light?
Can you imagine crowds at shopping centres and cafes radiating?
What about a hyped up audience at a concert?
A group having a picnic in a park?
On a train?
You see, in times of darkness if you can imagine the real live light shining from those around you, it’s easier to envisage your own. To imagine it is to see it, and to see is to believe. Even if nothing else you do is bringing you solace, it’s powerful to remember that even in the darkest of dark shadows you are literally radiating light.
It means you’re alive and it’s not over.
And if it’s not over, anything is possible.
