Dream Time Pep Talk: It Is Never Too Late

"You know, I have this dream".

This time it was her turn to be vulnerable. She smiled shyly.

And then, over a coffee in the sunshine, she told me her dream. I felt honored. Just thinking about that moment makes me smile. Her dream is beautiful. So caring. So true to who she is. In that moment, I could see no other path for her. I truly believe she is meant to do it.

"But I'm probably too old."

Oh, no.

"It's probably too late."

Oh, no-no-no-no-no.

Since the question of dreams often comes up in my conversations, naturally, I'm blessed with hearing a lot of wonderful reasons d'ĂȘtre. And I also hear a lot of reasons why not.

"I'm probably too old," she said. Pushing the dream away.

And we both now that's not the real reason. You said it yourself. In the end, we're all just a little scared. Maybe it wouldn't work. Maybe you wouldn't be good enough at it. Maybe you would get your hopes up, and then something would stand in the way, making it impossible. Maybe, maybe, maybe.

"I'm probably too old".

If you really want to do it, if you really want to make dreams into reality, age isn't what's going to stop you. Fear is. But let's push that fear to the side, for now. Let's focus on the excuse for a little while.

I know a 65-year-old who started studying law in a class full of 18-year-olds. I know a 49-year-old who just sold her business for no other reason than that she was tired and bored of it. I know an accountant who started over as a life coach. I know a 25-year-old up in to her ears with problems, who is working on changing her whole way of living (yup, that's me). I know a 40-year-old who has just published her two first books. I know.

If you want to start over -

If you want to start something new -

If you want to change -

If you want to live -

If you want to make magic, make a difference, help people -

If you want to inspire, build up, grow and evolve -

It is never too late.
