Why wild plants thrive in the dirt

“Love is not a hot-house flower, but a wild plant, born of a wet night, born of an hour of sunshine; sprung from wild seed, blown along the road by a wild wind. A wild plant that, when it blooms by chance within the hedge of our gardens, we call a flower; and when it blooms outside we call a weed; but, flower or weed, whose scent and colour are always, wild!”

― John Galsworthy  , The Forsyte Saga

Hi gorgeous wildflower,

can you see that you are the prettiest one in the garden? Can you see that you are already taller, wilder and more lush?

I know that it is hard to be left out when all the other flowers receive nourishment and love. I know it hurts when people try to push you down and rip you out of your element. I know it hurts.

People can be mean sometimes. I know it's confusing to try to love yourself when others seemingly don't. I know it is hard to understand why some people don't seem to like your beautiful blue shades - your strangeness and awkwardness. I know it is hard to find a good reason why you - YOU - are the unloved one, the unwanted one. I know it seems impossible to unite that feeling with a feeling of love for yourself. After all, the only good reason why you are lonely and left in the shadow must be that you are not worthy. Right? That there is something wrong with you. Right?

And it's tender. It aches. And it hurts.

But guess what, my wildflower.

You are beautiful in your own way.

You are strong, determined, valuable and worthy.

You are here for a reason. You are loved.

You. Are. Loved.

The most beautiful part of you is that you go your own way. You never give up. You thrive in the dirt, because you are stronger.

You find nourisment in your environment. You can do with a little less sunshine, BECAUSE YOU HAVE IT WITHIN YOU. You are energy, you are light. You are life.

Don't for a second think that you are not meant to be.

God, the creator, the universe, the mother earth  - whatever that might be - put you here for a very good reason.

You are meaningful. You belong here.

You. Belong. Here.

So grow, baby, grow.

Breathe, soak in the sunshine, relax in the shadow, nourish yourself, drink water, a raise yourself up towards the sky.

Grow, baby, grow.
